WEG Announces Agreement With 2W Ecobank For Self-Production Of Wind Power

The initiative will guarantee the supply of renewable energy in five industrial facilities of the Company in Brazil

WEG signed an agreement for self-production of energy in the Anemus, I, II and III Wind Farms, located in the municipality of Currais Novos, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

With power purchase contracts of approximately R$ 970M, with a duration of 20 years starting in January 2024, the initiative will guarantee an average of 30 MW of renewable power to generate energy for WEG's industrial operations in the form of self-production by equalization.

“We are very happy to participate in this process of generating renewable energy with technology and innovation. Our experience as manufacturers of renewable energy solutions, and particularly wind power in this case, will further ensure the sustainability of our operations. By adopting such measures, we reinforce our commitments and also show that we are ready to partner with companies in their decarbonization journeys”, emphasizes Daniel Marteleto Godinho, WEG’s Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Director.

The Anemus I, II, and III wind farms feature a total of 33 WEG AGW147/4.2 model wind turbines, resulting in an installed capacity of 138.6 MW when combined. “This contract marks the debut of 2W Ecobank in the supply of renewable energy in the self-production contract model, with a partnership of significant volume of energy consumption. This form of synergy holds significant importance as it not only brings economic benefits but also serves as a commitment to nature and society, ensuring the generation of 100% clean and renewable energy for years to come”, says Claudio Ribeiro, CEO of 2W Ecobank.

The agreement between the companies still depends on the fulfillment of precedent conditions, including the approval of the Brazilian authorities.
