Waterlance Sootblower

Waterlance Sootblower
Designed for use on furnace wall surfaces, the IK-4M-WL waterlance features precisely controlled travel and rotational speeds
N/Ar use on furnace wall surfaces where slag deposits are not removed by steam or air-supplied wall sootblowers, the IK-4M-WL waterlance features precisely controlled travel and rotational speeds during the cleaning cycle. This system maintains a uniform jet progression velocity throughout the cleaning area. Optimal cleaning effectiveness is said to be achieved through the use of high peak impact pressure nozzles with back rake angle configurations of 15° or 20° and a constant jet progression velocity of 300 ft/min. This unit is designed to clean tenacious slag while minimizing the effect on boiler tube life. It can be used to restore near bare metal surface conditions in high slagging boilers, as well as in burning heavy oils and orimulsion to remove the reflective furnace deposits that these fuels produce.

The system uses a rack and pinion drive system, and the programming and speed are controlled by a PLC and the variable speed drive is contained in a separately mounted control box. The waterlance nozzles retract fully from the wallbox to permit maintenance on the nozzles from the exterior of the boiler and to prevent the possibility of water drainage into the wallbox. It features a water flow rate of 33 gpm and an air purge that actuates on reverse travel. Partial-arc units are available that can shut the water off within a portion of the cleaning areas.
