AWP distributed its questionnaire to a sample of 110 utilities. A total of 47 responses were received and tabulated. Respondents' job titles were usually in a management role such as director of operations, chief engineer or general manager. Service population was evenly split between over and under 250,000 people.
Concrete pressure pipe represented 34 percent of installed pipe, with ductile iron pipe at 28 percent, and cast iron pipe at 32 percent. Approximately 3.4 percent of the installed pipe was steel, with another 2.2 comprised of PVC.
