Thermal Barrier Coating

Elbar B.V. Thermal Barrier Coating is used to insulate and protect components from the hot gas turbine combustion gases. When applied to cooled components, the coating significantly reduces the metal temperature, thus increasing component life. When applied to uncooled components, it does not protect against the steady-state high temperature. In certain applications, however, cyclic temperature stresses may be reduced and, subject to the mode of operation, the lifetime increased. The base material or the bond coat determines the temperature limits.
