Tenesol First To Achieve Triple ISO And OSHAS Certification

Tenesol, a global player in the field of photovoltaic (PV) energy owned by industry giants TOTAL and EDF, is the first French manufacturer of solar PV panels to be awarded the triple certification of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OSHAS 18001.
"At Tenesol we focus our efforts and initiatives on guaranteeing total customer satisfaction," says Benoit Rolland, general manager of Tenesol. "The increased demand for solar energy worldwide has reinforced our commitment to total quality, sustainable development and safety. We are delighted to achieve this triple certification - it is a testament to our continued efforts in these areas and it will no doubt foster further improvement in all aspects of our work."
Tenesol is committed to providing turnkey or customised solutions for generating solar PV energy across the globe. As a major industry player with over 1,000 staff, Tenesol is aware of the impact its business has on the environment. It has been continuously developing innovative solutions to manage its impact while also maintaining its commitment to the safety of employees.
ISO 9001
Tenesol has been certified to ISO 9001 since October 2003. The company's drive for continuous improvement in quality management is encompassed in ISO 9001 and it reinforces the company's competitiveness and determination to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. Tenesol applies a rigorous selection process to the components and equipment it uses and its major suppliers are also ISO 9001 certified.
Each PV panel Tenesol creates undergoes a rigorous quality control procedure complete with an assessment sheet detailing the results of its numerous performance tests. This guarantees the product quality and reassures the customer they are buying a product that complies with the most thorough manufacturing standards (CE/ISO 9001 and 14001).
In 2009, Tenesol was recertified to ISO 9001 (2008 version). The company also revised its management structure and applied a ‘total quality' approach to each step of its processes.
ISO 14001
Tenesol operates two production facilities located in Toulouse, France and Cape Town, South Africa. In 2009, both plants were awarded ISO 14001 certification in recognition of Tenesol's commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
The company has been increasing its efforts in sustainable development. Tenesol is a member of PV Cycle, an industry group which aims to develop sustainable solar life cycles and reduce CO2 emissions in the solar industry. In partnership with TOTAL, Tenesol is also involved in the Bouygues Immobiliers economic interest group "Enjeu Energie Positive" [Positive energy challenge]. The purpose of the group is to define the positive energy buildings of the future.
OSHAS 18001
Safety is the third cornerstone of Tenesol's philosophy. In December 2009, the company's Toulouse facility was awarded OSHAS 18001 certification, which focuses on the management of health and safety in the working environment.
