Tata Power's Trombay Thermal Power Station Bags Three National Awards At The 14th Annual Excellence In Energy Management Awards

Tata Power, India's largest integrated power utility, has been conferred with the prestigious National Award for Excellence in Energy Management for “Excellent Energy Efficient unit”, “Best innovative energy saving Project” and “Most useful presentation.” The National Award for Excellence in Energy Management was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Hyderabad.

The Awards have been instituted to recognize and honor “Excellence” in Energy Management among commercial and office building sector as well as to create an opportunity to share Best Practices and technologies adopted. A panel of judges evaluated companies on the basis of the presentations made on the implementation of Energy Conservation and Management activities.

Tata Power’s Trombay Thermal Station emerged as the organization adopting the best practices as per the above categories and successfully won the award for Excellent Energy Efficient unit out of 74 presenting companies. The Trombay team exhibited their Modification in Unit 8 Air and Flue Gas Path presentation and won the Best Innovative Energy Saving Project amongst all energy saving projects presented by the Power Sector companies. Lastly, Trombay won a third award on the basis of the content, usefulness, and methodology of presentation.

Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General (BEE), presented the prestigious award to Mr. Ashish Bhat, Mr K Bairwa, and Mr. T Chethan who attended the event on behalf of Tata Power.

Speaking on the award,  Mr S. Padmanabhan, Executive Director, Tata Power, said,  “It is an honour to have been awarded the National Award for Excellence in Energy Management in not one, but three separate categories for Trombay Thermal Station. We are delighted that our initiatives and the hard work and efforts put in by our teams have been appreciated at a national platform. We at Tata Power will strive to calibrate our approach to raise the bar and meet the emerging expectations for sustainable performance.

More than 200 companies from sectors such as paints, refineries, power, paper, automobile, steel, cement, and building sector applied for this competition. 74 companies were shortlisted and were asked to make a final presentation at the HICC centre in Hyderabad.
