Suzlon Group Signs Contract For 131 MW Australian Wind Farm Project
- Mt Mercer wind project to be supplied with 64 MM92 wind turbines
- The project will have a total capital cost of around AUD $260M
- Project scheduled for delivery from September, 2013
​Melbourne VIC - Suzlon Group-subsidiary, REpower Systems SE, has signed a contract with Meridian Energy Limited to supply 64 MM92 wind turbines, each with 2.05 MW of rated power, to the Mt Mercer wind farm.
The Mt Mercer wind farm project is based in Victoria, Australia, located approximately 30 km south of Ballarat.
This is REpower’s first contract with Meridian Energy and the company’s largest ‘supply & install’ contract for its MM series turbines in Australia to date. The wind turbines are scheduled to be installed and commissioned between September, 2013 and January, 2015.
Speaking about the contract, Mr Chris Judd, CEO – REpower Australia, said: “Being awarded this contract during our ‘10 years in Australia’ celebrations underscores REpower Australia’s longstanding commitment to the Australian wind energy industry and the opportunities presented by the renewable energy target which will deliver around 7 GW of new wind generating capacity in Australia by 2020.”
