The LT3800/LT3801 String Multi-Drop Fiber Optic Modems interconnect multiple devices fitted with RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces
Lascomm800/LT3801 String Multi-Drop Fiber Optic Modems interconnect multiple devices fitted with RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces. LT3800 and LT3801 are designed for SCADA or POLL-RESPONSE scheme communication environment. Asynchronous data rates up to 38.4 Kbps are supported. The optic signal from upstream and downstream are decoded and re-transmitted at each node (LT3800 or LT3801). The anti-streaming function of LT3801 can be enabled to prevent failed remote unit or RTU from blocking out the response channel.
Lascomm800 is the master unit and LT3801 is the remote unit. Each unit provides one or two pair of fiber interfaces. Either RS-232 or RS-485 interface can be provided. The master unit connecting to host computer can be placed at the end or in the middle of a pair of optic fiber cable with all the remote units daisy chained thorough the optic cable. The second master unit can be placed at the other end of the optic cable as a backup master. In the event of cable breakage or defective remote unit, the backup master can start polling the remote units from opposite direction. Fiber optic connectors are ST; FC and SMA are optional. Electrical connectors are DB25 female. Power is 9 to 12VDC; optional 24VAC or 115/230VAC have an external power cube.
