Strategic Acquisition Strengthens Aquatech's Zero Liquid Discharge and Desalination Capabilities
In the ZLD arena, the acquisition will enable Aquatech to offer tremendous benefits to its customers by integrating Aqua-Chem's brine concentrator, crystallizer and other proprietary evaporative technologies with cutting edge technologies like HERO (High Efficiency Reverse Osmosis) currently being offered by Aquatech.
"Aqua-Chem has a proven track record in evaporative processes with numerous operating installations in the Power Generation and other industries. By coupling Aqua-Chem's technologies with the HERO technology we will be able to offer the most environmentally friendly, cost-effective solution for Zero Liquid Discharge available to the industry. We are pleased to have the highly experienced people of Aqua-Chem and are excited to share the large market potential for these technologies with them" said V.N. Sharma, President of Aquatech. "This is especially true for the power generation industry, where the need for ZLD is growing. This acquisition offers us an excellent opportunity to strategically augment and strengthen our ZLD offering, thus enhancing the value proposition to our customers and will help us realize our goal of being the world leader in Zero Liquid Discharge." Sharma added.
Dave Tenniswood, President and CEO of Aqua-Chem commented "The strengths and strategic focus of Aquatech are precisely what are required to realize the substantial potential of the business units transferred in this transaction. We are extremely pleased that this business and the employees that have transferred to Aquatech are positioned to prosper."
The acquisition also brings to Aquatech heat transfer core competence and propels Aquatech into a full fledged seawater desalination company – having the capability to offer both Thermal and membrane based Desalination solutions in a wide range of sizes. Aqua-Chem's thermal, land based desalination capabilities include "Spray Film" Multiple Effect Distillation (MED), Vapor Compression (VC) and Multi Stage Flash (MSF). Together with its existing capabilities in Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO), this will enable Aquatech to offer its customers optimal, cost effective solutions tailored to suit their specific requirements.
