Siemens Receives Follow-Up Order For H-Class Gas Turbines In Mexico

- Siemens supplies key components for CCPP Empalme II
- Six H-class gas turbines for Mexico since spring 2015
Erlangen - Siemens has received the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in the state of Sonora Empalme II a repeat order and provides again two SGT6-8000H gas turbines and two generators SGen 2000H to Mexico. The plant will have an installed electrical capacity of 791 megawatts (MW). Client is a consortium consisting of the Spanish company Duro Felguera Construction and Elecnor, and the Mexican subsidiary Elecnor Mexico. Operator of the system is the state-owned energy utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). Commissioning is scheduled for April 2018th In addition, Siemens provides technical assistance in the construction and commissioning of the plant. Siemens has received 2015 orders for a total of six H-class gas turbines from Mexico since the spring.

A total of six H-class gas turbines of the type SGT6-8000H come in the combined cycle power plants Empalme I (770 MW), Empalme II (791 MW) and Valle de México II (615 MW) are used. Siemens also provides two SGT6-5000F gas turbines for the plant in Tula Hidalgo, Mexico. These four plants have a combined installed capacity of 2,727 MW and thus supply about one million households with electricity in Mexico.Siemens has so far sold 76 H-class gas turbines. The SGT-8000H fleet has already reached with 16 units in commercial operation for more than 195,000 hours of operation.
