Siemens Gamesa Signs Extension Of Maintenance Contract For 504 MW Offshore Park In The UK

  • It is the third extension of an offshore maintenance contract recently signed by the company in the United Kingdom
  • The agreement provides for planned maintenance, incident resolution and technical support for a period of five years

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy announces the renewal of its contract 1 to oversee and maintain the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm near the east coast of the United Kingdom. According to the contract signed with Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm Ltd (GGOWL), the owners of the park, Siemens Gamesa will be in charge of the operation and maintenance of the wind farm of 504 MW for another five years until 2022.

In particular, Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for preventive maintenance, incident resolution and technical support for the 140 Siemens SWT-3.6-107 turbines installed in the park. Located 23 kilometers off the English coast of Suffolk, the project, which represented an investment of more than 1.8 billion euros, was inaugurated in August 2013 by then Energy Minister Michael Fallon.

This contract involves continuing and deepening the maintenance work developed by SGRE for the park since 2013. The monitoring and permanent diagnosis of each of the turbines will be carried out from the control room of the company in Newcastle (United Kingdom) .

Greater Gabbard maintenance is the latest of three renewals of maintenance contracts recently awarded to Siemens Gamesa. With a history of 10 years as responsible for the maintenance of the London Array offshore park (with 175 turbines), and the projects of Lynn and Inner Dowsing (54 turbines), this is the first agreement that also includes the maintenance of the electrical infrastructure .

"We are very pleased that our company has been re-selected to provide maintenance services to the Greater Gabbard park," said Mark Albenze, CEO of the Siemens Gamesa Services business unit. "The five-year expansion reinforces our commitment to offer our customers optimized service plans tailored to their specific operational needs and complemented by advanced digital services in order to help them reduce costs." We thank GGOWL for their trust in our products and services. "

More than 6,000 employees dedicated to providing services and maintenance solutions in 53 countries enable Siemens Gamesa to service more than 23,000 turbines with a total power of 54 GW worldwide.
