ARC MX1 Datasheet

Source: A.W. Chesterton Company

An advanced ceramic composite for the repair and protection of all metal surfaces subjected to severe erosion, abrasion and chemical attack. It is applied at a thickness of 6 mm (1/4 inch) or more. Non-shrinking, 100% solids. Color is Blue.

ARC MX1 is formulated with a high concentration of ceramic beads and fine ceramic particles for extremely abrasive environments where superior protection is desirable. ARC MX1 is applied to a primed surface by trowel or it may be molded where close tolerances and a smooth finish are necessary. It is chosen over ARC 890 and 897 when increased abrasion protection is required.

COMPOSITION - Polymer/ Ceramic Composite
Matrix - A two component, modified epoxy resin reacted with an aliphatic amine curing agent.

Reinforcement - A proprietary blend of surface modified, high strength ceramic beads, ceramic particles and mineral reinforcements designed to provide the ultimate resistance to extreme abrasion and impact.

Packaging
Material is available in two package sizes: 6 kg and 20 kg. Each package contains 5 pre-measured containers. This includes a primer kit, ARC MXP (Part A and Part B), and ARC MX1 (Part A, Part B and Part C). A mixing tool, brush, applicator and application instructions are also included.

Chemical Resistance
Recommended for exposure to low concentrations of acids, alkalies, bleaches, and other chemicals. Please refer to the ARC Chemical Resistance Charts for a comprehensive list of chemicals and associated exposure ratings at ambient temperature.

Suggested Uses

  • Pulverizers
  • Dredge Pumps
  • Hoppers and Silos
  • Tile Lined Conveyor Screws
  • CD4 / Ni-Hard / Hardox Slurry Pumps and Pipe Elbows Deflector Hoods
  • Fans/Blowers/Cyclones
  • Transport Pipelines for Abrasives
  • Metal Clad Exhaust Fan Housings
  • Ceramic Tile Lined Chutes
  • Ceramic Tile or Rubber Lined

Benefits

  • Dramatically outlasts other wear resistant materials and coatings by 5-7 times.
  • Excellent wear characteristics extend equipment's operating cycles.
  • Outwears weld overlay or ceramic tiles.
  • Tough resin structure resists thermal-mechanical shock.
  • May be molded to precise dimensions for critical tolerances.
  • Performs well under fluctuating chemical environments.
