Software for a variety of user requirements is a standard feature on the EDAS serial-to-Ethernet converter. This system's software allows RS232 devices to communicate with other computers including PCs, Macs, UNIX, VAX, and AS400s and serial ports on remote company units to appear to Windows applications as local serial ports to the PC. A Net Link driver lets users develop a custom interface using TCP/IP. The converter can connect RS232 devices such as terminals, scales, bar code scanners, machines, instruments, PLCs, controllers, gauges, and smart sensors directly to computers via Ethernet networks. It utilizes a built-in TCP/IP protocol stack that provides an open system that interfaces to a variety of host platforms.
