Scientific Engineering Instruments, Inc., (SEI) designs, manufactures, and services acoustic instrument systems for gas temperature and gas flow measurement in a variety of utility and industrial thermal process environments. Founded in 1979, the Company is the world's leading producer of acoustic pyrometer systems for non-intrusive measurement of very hot gas temperatures. SEI is a privately held company headquartered in Sparks, Nevada USA.

SEI's major products are the Temperature Watch SP and Temperature Watch MMP gas pyrometers and the STACKWATCH acoustic stack/duct gas flow measurement system. These products utilize SEI's patented acoustic measurement technologies, which provide accurate and repeatable acoustic time-of-flight measurements in a variety of harsh and noisy industrial environments. These technologies were developed by SEI and proven through installations and critical testing on a large number of thermal plant processes throughout the world over many years.
