AVEVA Expands Cloud Platform With New Performance Module

Source: AVEVA

AVEVA announced the continued expansion of its cloud platform, Insight, powered by Wonderware Online. A new insight performance module provides overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) monitoring, asset utilization analysis and downtime tracking in the cloud.

In an increasingly competitive global market, margin pressure and volatile commodity prices are driving manufacturers to improve operational performance while limiting capital investment. Moving equipment performance monitoring to the cloud lets manufacturers extend access to data beyond the control room to increase information sharing between teams.

Insight Performance empowers operators with data-driven KPIs and real-time visibility into equipment performance through an intuitive, user-friendly interface. Built-in analysis capabilities enable cross-plant equipment benchmarking that delivers actionable intelligence to effectively increase equipment performance and operating efficiency. With greater access to key metrics–anywhere, anytime and on any device–users can quickly identify and share best practices to drive process and production improvements across their business.

This software as a service (SaaS) offering accelerates time-to-value through rapid provisioning and application configuration while reducing on-premise infrastructure and total cost of ownership. This solution offers the following capabilities:

  1. Light-weight applications that are easier to install, configure and maintain
  2. Virtually no on-premises servers or hardware requirement, significantly reducing cost and complexity.

The cloud deployment model leverages conventional or IoT edge devices to collect operational data, sending information directly to a hosted online environment, bypassing the usual layers while remaining secure. Following this model, Insight Performance opens new opportunities for facilities with semi-automated or manual operations to expand their footprint and achieve results previously considered not possible.

“As leaders in digital transformation, we deliver innovative solutions that address our customers’ critical business requirements,” said Rob McGreevy, Vice President of Information, Operations and Asset Management at AVEVA. “With the introduction of Insight Performance, we allow new markets previously unable to implement manufacturing execution systems due to cost or complexity to leverage an easy to use, cloud solution for operational efficiency and plant performance improvement. This creates new opportunities for our customers to implement cultural change, meet growing consumer demand and drive profitability across the manufacturing value chain.”

“Our customers see cloud solutions as a tremendous opportunity to extend the value of an on-premise manufacturing operations management solution,” said Tom Troy, Director Product Management, Manufacturing Execution at AVEVA. “With a focus on configuration management and analytics, the Insight cloud platform enables this value by bringing together process and production data to provide better visibility into asset reliability and continuous improvement.”

Insight Performance is the first operations and execution management module of the quickly advancing Insight platform. Production, quality, inventory, asset management and visualization functionality is anticipated in the near future. This offering includes cloud and hybrid deployment models that can leverage edge and IIoT devices for mission critical, real-time requirements along with adding value to existing, on-premises manufacturing execution system (MES).
