Extensive Research Facilities Set HPD Apart

From the Laboratory to Commercial Operation

The Phillip J. Stewart Technology Center, located on the campus of HPD, is a state-of-the-art, 50,000 square foot research and development facility.

The staff of research engineers, chemists and technicians work closely with sales and process engineers, field service and technicians to support our customers and directly contributes to the success of over 650 installations by HPD worldwide.

Widest Variety of Testing Capabilities in the Industry for Evaporation and Crystallization

Several of HPD's key technologies were the direct result of work conducted in this comprehensive research facility.

Maintaining a wide array of test equipment and replication of upstream and downstream processes provides the flexibility required to accurately design a total system or develop new technologies under a variety of different scenarios.

This flexibility in both scale and equipment allows HPD to not only provide process validation, but also identify potential system enhancements to improve process efficiency and overall system economies.

HPD's Testing Capabilities Summary:

  • Analytical Testing - Project chemistry and impact on process design.
  • Bench-scale Testing - Characterization and chemical behavior that translates specifically to commerical design.
  • Mini-works - Measurement of fluid dynamics, accurate prediction of fouling tendencies and heat transfer performance, especially with a limited sample size.
  • Mobile Test Equipment - Evaporation and crystallization equipment designed for on-site testing where feed chemistry is variable, feed material is not feasible to ship or operator training is required for long-term success of the project.
  • Pilot-scale Testing - Larger scale evaporators and crystallizers equipped with ancillary equipment to fully identify potential system enhancements and more cost-effective solutions.
