Jenbacher AG has developed a standard-gauge train system going fully new directions in contrast to conventional rail vehicle concepts. The articulated INTEGRAL train, with its modular system of low-platform and double-deck coaches, offers a number of combination possibilities and can consequently be used universally to solve future regional rail traffic problems.

The objective was the full integration not only of passenger wishes in terms of more comfort and service performance, but also of operator demands for the greatest possible flexibility regarding changing capacities and routes.

The ever increasing volume of traffic in heavily populated areas has been a well-known problem for years. However, neither a mere discussion of this already amply described central issue nor holding on to existing train vehicle concepts will bring about improvement. For this reason, Jenbacher began with the development of a new high-speed train system under the project name "INTEGRAL". The objective was the full integration not only of passenger demands for more comfort and safety, but also of operator demands for optimal flexibility with regards to changing capacity and route requirements and the most economical life-cycle costs.
