Plant Optimization Software

Operation startups, product switchovers, and steady state operation usually require different PID control system
Operation startups, product switchovers, and steady state operation usually require different PID control system parameters. Most systems are optimized for setpoint changes such as switchovers, and start-ups. But the loop performs poorly during steady state operation. This new software helps optimize plants for all of these scenarios.

The solution is a setpoint filter combined with optimal tuning for steady state operation. The result is smooth setpoint response in combination with best response to process upsets. The setpoint filter is active only during setpoint changes. This allows the user to select the manufacturer's optimal tuning for process upsets. With these PID settings in place, the feedback control loop is tightened to its utmost, giving steady state optimization.

The setpoint filter helps ensure the loop also reacts well to plant startups and switchovers. Customers can use it to view the effects of the setpoint filter off-line in simulation before applying it to the process. Adjust the filter amount and immediately see the effect on the closed loop response. Tailor the response to exactly what the plant needs.

The manufacturer creates a report of the entire loop optimization, including all the analysis graphs, performance indices, loop diagnosis and the setpoint filter in a Microsoft Word document. The report documents the loop for future records.
