Peabody Engineering introduces new combustion solutions

Peabody Engineering's SmartScan 121 flame scanner monitors combustion in boilers, fired heaters and incinerators to prevent the accumulation of unspent fuel. The unit incorporates modern sensor technology and advanced microprocessor controls to sense the presence and condition of flames. It also has the capability to distinguish between adjacent flames, fireballs, and radiating surfaces.

The product scans IR and UV radiation alone or in combination for true multi-fuel compatibility. It is capable of oil, gas, solid, and non-standard fuel scanning. It is also available with an optional galvanic isolator or Zener barrier for peak performance under hazardous conditions.

Onboard, self-checking and self-diagnostic functions help ensure reliability while easy-to-read bar graph and LED displays enhance readability. Unit's user-friendly sight scanner head also employs LEDs for accurate alignment and aiming.

High energy ignition systems
These igniters from Chentronics, a unit of Peabody, are suitable for a variety of burner and pilot ignition applications and can be utilized in a wide range of industries. Their direct mark mechanisms are capable of igniting fuel/air mixtures with high moisture or particulate content. Patented solid-state technology sustains elevated rates of discharge and power output, which are not obtainable with traditional gas tube methods. Engineered with global markets in mind, the systems accept wide input voltage ranges (85-265 VRMS, 48-70 Hz) without alteration.

For the ignition of heavy fuel oil, Chentronics also offers a heavy oil version of its high energy igniter. Capable of reliably igniting bunker grade crude oil, this particular model features increased ignition reliability, particularly under extremely high moisture conditions. With no valve trains or gas supplies, it also requires little inventory and maintenance.
