Panda Energy to Build $100 Million Guadalupe Power Plant

Panda Energy International, Inc., a Texas-based company, has announced plans to construct a $100 million electric power plant near the city of Marion in Guadalupe County.

The new power plant is expected to generate an estimated 275 jobs in addition to a staff of 30 to 35 permanent employees for the county.

According to Jeff Schroeter, director of business development, the construction of the 750 mW Panda Guadalupe Power Plant is scheduled to begin in 1999. The Marion Economic Development District will work in coordination with Panda to ensure the project is carried out efficiently.
