The Optical Pulse Initiator (OPI) is a device that converts
American Innovations Ltd. Pulse Initiator (OPI) is a device that converts meter disk rotations into KYZ output. It uses optical sensing to detect a non-reflective stripe on the meter disk and provides one dry contact closure for each rotation. The IPO draws power from the utility side of the meter and meets test criteria for accuracy and durability. It fits inside most single phase, electromechanical watt-hour meter models manufactured during the last 25 years as well as some electromechanical three phase meters.
