Nozzle and Orifice Flow-Limiting Calculations

This program can calculate either the flow for a given orifice size or, conversely, the orifice size for a given flow. The program is intended for situations in which the orifice or nozzle is being used for limiting the flow of the fluid, not for the purpose of metering the flow. The fluid can be steam, air, or any gas for which the molecular weight, compressibility and ratio of specific heats is known. The properties for air and steam are built in. For a situation in which a gas is vented unsilenced to the atmosphere, the program also calculates the sound power level and the sound pressure level (at 3 ft.) generated at the discharge.
