NextEra Energy Resources Powers Up North America's Largest Concentrated Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant

Juno Beach, FL – NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, the competitive energy subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NEE) and North America's leading generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun, announces the commissioning of the Hatch Solar Center, located in Hatch, N.M.

The 5-megawatt Hatch facility is comprised of 84 Amonix 60-kilowatt units, and began operation in June 2011. The plant is the largest operating concentrated photovoltaic solar power plant in North America. NextEra Energy Resources owns and operates the plant and sells the power to El Paso Electric under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

NextEra Energy Resources has partnered with Amonix, Inc., a leader in solar systems design and manufacturing, for the Hatch Solar Energy Center. The plant uses Amonix's innovative concentrated photovoltaic solar power systems, which incorporate dual-axis tracking to maximize energy production throughout the day.

"As the leader in North America for renewable generation, we are always looking for new and emerging technologies," said Mike O'Sullivan, senior vice president of Development for NextEra Energy Resources. "Amonix has been a great partner, and we look forward to working with the company in the future."

"We are pleased to be the PV technology that is powering NextEra Energy Resources' latest solar power plant and applaud the company for its leadership in sustainability and renewable energy generation," said Amonix CEO Brian Robertson. "The Hatch Solar Energy Center is in a prime sunny and dry location, perfect for Amonix technology, which generates more energy per acre than any other solar technology."
