NAES Corporation Operating The Salem Harbor Power Plant

Issaquah, WA - NAES Corporation, a broad-based provider of services to the energy industry, announces it has taken over the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the 748 MW Salem Harbor Power Plant, recently purchased by an affiliate of Footprint Power, LLC.

Salem Harbor was a four unit, pulverized coal and fuel oil-fired facility that entered service in the 1950s, with the last unit entering service in the early 1970s. Units 1 and 2 were removed from service in late 2011, with units 3 and 4 scheduled to be shut down in mid-2014.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with Footprint Power and operate Salem Harbor for the remainder of its service life. NAES is focused on safety, compliance, production and cost-effectiveness, and I am confident that we will add value to Footprint," said George Wackerhagen, NAES Vice President of Power Plant Operations and Technical Support Services.

"NAES support has been instrumental to Footprint through the due diligence process, the negotiations of purchase documentation and the operational transition. With NAES on our team, our seller and the plant staff had confidence that operational aspects of the transaction were well in hand - a critical element in bringing the deal to closure. Just as important, NAES deep understanding of union contracts and their sensitivity to the impact of transitions like this one on individual employees has resulted in a seamless transition from a human resources perspective," said Peter Furniss, Chief Executive Officer of Footprint Power.

Headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, NAES is among the world's leading providers of comprehensive services to industries that generate or consume power. For over 30 years, NAES has specialized in providing services centered on safe, reliable and cost-effective performance including operations and maintenance; construction, retrofit and maintenance services; on-site turbine inspection/overhaul services; staffing solutions; and customized services designed to improve plant and personnel effectiveness.
