Megger Donates 70-kV Discharge Stick To Iowa Lakes Community College Wind Energy Program

Iowa Lakes Community College Wind Energy and Turbine Technology students will continue to receive training with state-of-the-art equipment, thanks in part due to the donation from Megger, the premier provider of electric test equipment and measuring instruments for electrical power applications for over 100 years.
Megger donated a 70-kV discharge stick that is used to safely remove the static charge from equipment and other voltage retaining components prior to performing maintenance work. Applying a suitably rated high-voltage resistance discharge stick following a test is recommended. This is not only a good safety practice, but will hasten discharge of highly capacitive samples.
David Danner, Sales Manager at Megger, stated he was very pleased to provide the piece of equipment. "As a leader in the wind energy education industry, Iowa Lakes is ensuring students are well prepared to begin work in the field. Megger is proud to be a part of the training students are receiving at Iowa Lakes, and we will continue to keep the College informed of the latest technology and equipment we release."
