KeySpan Energy Names Neil Nichols Senior Vice President

BROOKLYN & HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (March 8) BUSINESS WIRE -March 8, 1999--H. Neil Nichols has been named a Senior Vice President of KeySpan Energy (NYSE:KSE), effective immediately.

In March of last year, Mr. Nichols was named President of KeySpan Energy Development Corporation (KEDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of KeySpan Energy. He continues to hold that position. Prior to joining KeySpan, he had over 30 years experience in the natural gas industry, including tenure as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President with TransCanada PipeLines.

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, Mr. Nichols maintains homes with his wife in Toronto, Ontario, and on the upper east side in Manhattan. He has been active in fund raising with the Salvation Army and other charities.

Mr. Nichols, 61, is a Certified Management Accountant and a member of the Financial Executives Institute.

KEDC invests in energy-related businesses in the U.S. and abroad. Through KEDC, KeySpan has a 50% interest in Gulf Midstream Services Partnership, which processes natural gas in western Canada. In addition, KeySpan has a 50% share in Premier Transco Ltd., which transports natural gas from southwest Scotland to Northern Ireland. The pipeline serves a large power station at Ballylumford and supplies gas to Phoenix Natural Gas, a gas distribution company serving greater Belfast, Northern Ireland. KeySpan also holds a 24.5% interest in Phoenix Natural Gas.

KeySpan Energy operates two utilities that distribute natural gas under the Brooklyn Union name to approximately 1.6 million customers in New York City and on Long Island. It is the fourth largest gas-distribution company in the United States.
