Kalcor is a formula of alumina, zirconia and silica that can be cast in cylinders, tiles of various types and custom designed shapes. The materials are melted and cast in molds at approximately 3,600° F. The resulting linings have relatively greater resistance to impact and thermal shock making them suitable for applications involving high temperature materials. Low thermal conductivity reduces the need for insulation where external temperatures need to be minimized.
Kalcor can be used to protect equipment in a process or used for abrasive material transport. Tiles can be specially designed and cast to fit together and cover curved or flat surfaces of any configuration. Tru-arc shapes make possible linings for cyclones, flumes, hoppers, ducts, chutes and piping with a minimum of joints to cause wear.
