Jupiter International and Caterpillar Power Ventures International Will Team to Pursue Electric Power Generation Opportunities
Jupiter International Resources Inc. has executed and agreement with Caterpillar Power Ventures International, Ltd. (a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc.) for the investment in and operation of small to medium size (2 to 20 megawatt) electric power plants in Canada, Asia, Africa and other developing countries.
The joint investment between Jupiter and Caterpillar, which will be called Jupiter Power, includes existing power plants in Cambodia at Pursat and Kampong Chhang; a power plant under construction at Battambang; and a fourth power plant recently awarded. There are additional power plant opportunities presently under discussion in Canada, Cambodia, Indonesia and Africa.
Investments in additional power projects by Jupiter Power, resulting in the need for additional contributions of capital, will be funded jointly and equally by the parties. During the next two years Caterpillar Power Ventures will provide assistance to Jupiter International Resources with respect to the funding of Jupiter's equity contributions to Jupiter Power.
Jupiter International Resources Inc. is an Alberta, Canada public corporation that has independent power production operations in Southeast Asia. The corporation, which has operated diesel power plants in Cambodia for three years, has recently explored project opportunities in Indonesia and other countries in the region. Jupiter International has also applied its management's background in oil and gas exploration to evaluate independent power projects in Western Canada.
