The MackPower business unit of Mack Trucks, Inc. has introduced an industrial version of the popular Mack® E7 E-Tech engine. According to Scott Kress, Mack vice president -- business development, and general manager of the MackPower business unit, the new I-E7 will serve a variety of applications, including: mining, power generation, industrial, agricultural, construction, material handling, as well as pumps and compressors.
"The Mack E7 engine is a well-known, well-respected product with years of proven performance, efficiency and reliability on the highway," said Kress. "Now a variety of industrial operations can take advantage of the same technology to meet their mobile off-highway and stationary engine needs."
The in-line, six-cylinder, 24-valve, intercooled design is available in power configurations ranging from 360 to 500 horsepower. The I-E7 offers several other features common to its truck-driving cousin. These include:
- Electronically controlled fuel injection through the use of Electronic Unit Pumps with the Mack V-MAC® III electronic control system.
- High swirl combustion chambers for increased fuel efficiency and smoke control.
- Dual full flow spin-on oil system with 33.5-quart capacity.
- Steel crown articulated piston and wet/dry cylinder liners for durability.
- High power-to-weight ratio for outstanding performance.
All I-E7 engines will be manufactured at the Mack Powertrain Operations in Hagerstown, Md., where MackPower engineers and product development specialists have been centralized. The toll-free telephone number for all MackPower inquiries is 877-6-PWRMACK.
