The standard end-of-line balancing system to verify that core assemblies are within tolerances for balance and other parameters
The standard end-of-line balancing system to verify that core assemblies are within tolerances for balance and other parameters. This machine is equipped for data transmission to a network or remote computer.

American Hofmann Corporation has been the leading supplier of balancing systems to the turbocharger industry for the past decade. The complete line of balancing machines includes versions for balancing compressor wheels and for turbine wheel and shaft assemblies, low speed (4,000 rpm.) systems for core assemblies and high speed (>100,000 rpm.) systems for smaller turbochargers.

At the heart of the balancing machine is the measuring system. AHC incorporates piezo electric force measuring transducers into a compact, high output, two plane measuring table. This measuring table can be mounted either in a horizontal or vertical configuration and is available in four standard sizes and special sizes as needed. The machines are accurate to four microinches (0.1 um).

Tooling includes non-rotating arbors for compressor wheels, bushings for wheel and shaft assemblies, and V-blocks For rotor assemblies or for balancing a complete core in its own bearings. The rotor is typically driven by a closed loop servo controlled air drive system. Production balancers include automatic correction by CNC milling or high speed CBN grinding.
