GE Nets 15-Turbine Service Agreement from TransAlta
GE Aeroderivative and Package Services (GEAPS) signed a global service agreement with TransAlta of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The agreement covers 10 power plants in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, all of which use GE LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbines. The financial terms weren't disclosed.
"We are pleased to be able to work with TransAlta, a long-standing GE customer and the owner of the largest fleet of GE LM6000 gas turbines in the world," said Jim McGlothlin, general manager, Global Sales for GEAPS, a GE Power Systems business.
McGlothlin said that as part of this nine-year exclusive agreement, GEAPS plans to provide scheduled maintenance for the 15 LM6000 gas turbines. Included will be hot section and combustor exchanges that can be performed on site, as well as overhaul services to be handled as necessary at GEAPS' depot in Houston, he said.
All except three of the GE LM6000 gas turbines were originally sold and packaged by S&S Energy Products, also a GE Power Systems business. GEAPS' global service agreement covers four power plants in Canada, five plants in Australia and one power generation facility in New Zealand.
The global service contract covers a total of 14, LM6000s with standard combustion (11 LM6000 PA, 3 LM6000 PC units), and one LM6000 PB with GE's Dry Low Emissions combustion system. All of the LM6000s are fueled by natural gas.
