GE Announces Menu Directed Software For Visual Inspections In Power

everest

Billerica, MA – GE Inspection Technologies announces the release of Menu Directed Inspection (MDI) software, a tool that guides Everest XLG3 VideoProbe users in the power generation industry through the inspection process and intelligently auto-generates a report. MDI software saves time, improves quality and increases productivity for the end user. It provides a 35 to 70 percent time savings.

"With the launch of MDI in conjunction with the new Everest XLG3 8.4mm probe, the XLG3 is the most capable VideoProbe solution available today," said Bradford Morse, Global Product Manager for Software Solutions, GE Inspection Technologies.

MDI is a solution that provides a guided inspection, where context is automatically added to images that are captured during a visual inspection. Users first use a PC or XLG3 desktop to create a directed inspection. Following, the inspection is conducted using MDI, which delivers annotations and file names to the captured images. Lastly, users generate a report directly from the XLG3.

The guided inspection reduces reporting errors, improves data flow for asset management, increases the speed and ease of sharing data and eliminates post inspection reporting with the click-to-report feature, which automatically creates and distributes an inspection report.

MDI connects with GE's Rhythm software, a powerful data management platform. Rhythm Visual is a broad and flexible archiving tool, which stores and shares images and data, ultimately enabling data mining. The DICONDE image standard ensures long-term data utility and enables multi-system communication.

GE's Everest XLG3 system is a video borescope that offers a new way of enhancing inspection productivity. Advanced features include improved image quality, QuickChange™ probes that quickly reconfigure probe diameter and length, real-time data management and network connectivity for collaboration during live inspections.
