When using the Mee Fog system, a high-pressure pump system pressurizes water, typically deionized water for gas turbine applications. Normal operating pressures are from 1000 to 3000 psi. The high-pressure water flows through a network of stainless steel tubes to the special 316 stainless steel nozzles. The fog nozzles atomize water into micro-fine fog droplets that evaporate quickly even in high humidity conditions.
Combustion turbines are mass-flow engines. Power output increases within limits, in inverse proportion to the temperature of the inlet air. Cooler air is denser and consequently provides more mass flow. According tot he manufacturer, output will typically increase by 10% to 18% for every 20°F of reduction in inlet air temperature. This system is designed to be an inexpensive, low maintenance and hassle-free alternative to chillers or media type evaporative coolers. Due to the high evaporative efficiency of water fog, the system can also be used to supplement chillers or media type evaporative coolers.
