Duke/Fluor Daniel Will Build Power Plant for Panda

Duke/Fluor Daniel has recently been awarded a turnkey contract by Panda Paris Power LP, a subsidiary of Panda Energy International Inc., to provide engineering, procurement, construction and start-up services for a 1,000 MW, greenfield power plant located in Paris, TX. The value of this contract was not disclosed.

"Power from the plant will be distributed through TU Electric and will be sold to members of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and other users," said Taylor Cheek, director of Business Development for Dallas-based Panda Energy.

Detailed engineering for the combined cycle power plant is under way, with commercial operation scheduled for the summer of 2000. Construction will begin in March 1999.
