Dresser-Rand to supply generation equipment to Statoil
Dresser-Rand plans to supply power generation and compression equipment for Statoil's KvitebjØrn platform in the North Sea. The equipment will be supplied under terms of a contract approaching NOK241 million that is part of Dresser-Rand's frame contract with Statoil.
Dresser-Rand's facility in Kongsberg, Norway plans to assemble and test the two DR60G generator packages. Dresser-Rand's LeHavre, France facility will provide the two DATUM centrifugal compressor packages, as well as the dry gas seals.
The company (www.dresser-rand.com) expects to deliver the compressors this December, and it expects to deliver the generator sets in February 2002. The platform should go online in August 2004. ABB Offshore Systems serves as the EPC contractor for the platform deck.
Upon completion, the KvitebjØrn platform will be a fully integrated fixed steel production, drilling and living quarters platform. Statoil believes that recoverable reserves at the field—located south east of Gullfaks—represent about 17 million Sm³ condensate (light oil) and 47 billion cubic metres of gas. The gas and condensate from the field will be piped to the Kollsnes gas treatment plant and Mongstad terminal.
