Dr. Phillip (Rocky) Simmons, Eco-Tec Chairman, To Receive 2006 Professional Engineers Award For Entrepreneurship

Pickering, ON - The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) will be honouring the recipients of the 2006 Ontario Professional Engineers Awards, during the Awards Gala on Saturday, November 18, 2006 in Toronto, Ontario. Included among this year's awardees is Durham Region's own Phillip (Rocky) J. Simmons, Ph.D., P.Eng, Chairman of Eco-Tec Inc.

When informed of his award, Dr. Simmons stated, "I never considered myself an entrepreneur. I believe it was fate as a young engineer. I was at the right place at the right time, with the opportunity to work with a great team to create a fabulous company, Eco-Tec."

Dr. Simmons is President, CEO and Director of Eco-Tec Limited, and Chairman of Eco-Tec Inc., located in Pickering, Ontario. He is highly active in supporting and advising various institutions of higher learning, such as being seated on the Board of Governors' of Durham College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology and on the Board of Advisors of the Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry Department at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Simmons is pleased and proud to add an Ontario Professionals Engineer's Award to the ever-growing list of Eco-Tec achievements, some of which include: 2005 Global Traders Award for innovation and Excellence in Exporting, and a second Global Traders Award for Market Expansion; 2005 Falconbridge Award for Innovation; 2004 Canadian Innovation Award for Environmental Technology, and for three years, Eco-Tec was ranked in Canada's 50 Best- Managed Private Companies.
