Eastman Kodak Company, Scientific Imaging Systems Science Field Imaging System 265 is a GPS-enabled camera system provides the ability to add high quality images to GIS projects. By providing a way to combine geographic location data with images, the system eliminates manual labor required to keep track of the capture locations and image identity in written form. As a documentation tool, it combines digital photography and global positioning technology, with GIS software for field applications.
The system includes a powerful software extension for ESRI ArcView GIS for Windows software (version 3.0a or higher), that reads the embedded GPS information in images and quickly creates a point theme in a project. The extension also automatically sets up the hot links in ArcView GIS. The GPS data may be display directly on the image as a watermark. Images may be downloaded to a computer or laptop via a PCMCIA card adapter, USB, serial port, or infrared.
