Construction Of Second Photovoltaic Power Generation System

INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) is pleased to announce that through its wholly owned subsidiary, INPEX Logistics Co., Ltd. (INPEX Logistics), it has decided to construct the second large-scale photovoltaic power generation system in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
INPEX started the operation of its first photovoltaic power generation system last March, and the second photovoltaic power generation system will be constructed in the site adjacent to the first system. The INPEX Group has collectively named the two photovoltaic power generation systems in the Joetsu area “INPEX Mega Solar Joetsu,” which we hope will contribute to the energy supply in the area.
The second photovoltaic power generation system, which INPEX Logistics owns, will also have an approximately 2,000kW of maximum electric generating capacity and the construction will begin this July, starting its operation in August next year in the premises of INPEX Logistics. The annual electricity generated from the second photovoltaic power generation is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of some 860 households.
As addressed in “Medium-to Long Term Vision of INPEX,” INPEX will continue to explore business potentials of various types of renewable energy such as geothermal energy development in Hokkaido and Akita Prefectures. The decision to construct the second photovoltaic power generation system is a part of such effort.
