Communications Bridge

Providing a one-device solution for interoperability between incompatible PLC, DCS, RTU, and SCADA systems, the Model 8051 Industrial Communications Bridge can be used as a protocol translator or a port expander. It features eight RS232 serial ports, two RS485 optically isolated ports and two 10BaseT Ethernet ports. A dual redundancy with hot standby is optional.

As a protocol translator, the system connects high-speed, networking applications over RS232, RS422, RS485, or Ethernet communications links.

As a port expander, this unit allows multiple master devices to access slave devices simultaneously. Multi-protocol support or port sharing allows a single serial port to communicate with different types or RTUs. Throughput on the system is increased dramatically through the use of a proprietary poll-block caching.
