AirTrunk And ib vogt Break Ground On 29.99 MW Solar Project Under Malaysia's Corporate Green Power Program
International renewable energy developer ib vogt has achieved financial close for the 29.99MW solar project and commenced construction in Sungei Petani, Kedah, Malaysia. The project has been developed by ib vogt APAC under Malaysia's Corporate Green Power Program (CGPP), with Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) hyperscale data center specialist AirTrunk as the off-taker under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The project is the first known project under CGPP to break ground and begin construction featuring bi-facial modules and single axis tracker to maximize solar energy capture throughout the day. Once operational, the facility will prevent approximately 55,380 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Joscha Schmitz, Vice President, Energy and Climate, AirTrunk said: “Sourcing renewable energy is critical to achieve AirTrunk's Net Zero commitment. Together with our customers, some of the largest technology companies in the world, we have committed to matching 100% of electricity at our data centers with renewable energy consumption by 2030.
"The solar project, under Malaysia's Corporate Green Power Programme, is an important step in this journey, as it underpins development of new solar capacity and advances the region's transition to clean energy. We would like to congratulate ib vogt for commencing construction on one of the first solar projects in Malaysia to serve a data center."
David Ludwig, CEO of ib vogt APAC , stated: "The megatrend of decarbonization of the digital revolution and global supply chains is at the core of our mission and values. We are honored to work with AirTrunk, a leader of the digital revolution, who shares our commitment to the global energy transition."
Once completed, this CGPP project will contribute to Malaysia's renewable energy ambitions, supporting corporate and national sustainability goals while providing clean and reliable energy for the future.
