Abresist is fused cast basalt volcanic rock, melted at temperatures of 2400° F and cast into shaped tiles or cylinders, then tempered slowly at carefully controlled temperatures to attain the desired uniform crystalline structure that makes it a smooth, hard and highly abrasion resistant material. The tiles are used to line severe abrasion susceptible components in plant material handling and processing operations.
