ABB And CerilonSoft Sign Collaboration Agreement On Automation And Power Generation Solutions

  • ABB and CerilonSoft sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore developing and delivering integrated process and power solutions for industrial facilities worldwide
  • Collaboration aims to combine automation, electrification and AI-driven digital technologies to improve process engineering, asset management and efficiency of greenfield and brownfield facilities
  • Agreement allows for development of advanced power generation solutions customized for sectors including data centers to support artificial intelligence growth

ABB and CerilonSoft – an engineering subsidiary of Cerilon Inc, a Calgary-based energy company focused on advanced gas-to-liquids and behind-the-meter power stations – have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore joint collaboration on the development and delivery of industrial process and power generation solutions, including AI-driven digital technologies, for greenfield and brownfield facilities globally.

Within the scope of the MoU, ABB and CerilonSoft will investigate delivering complementary integrated automation and digital solutions for energy facilities, which may include power generation facilities for data centers to support artificial intelligence (AI) growth.

The MoU combines ABB’s expertise in automation, electrification and digital technology and CerilonSoft’s consulting capabilities, which include operations management, asset management and business analytics expertise. In combination the two companies will seek to help industrial operators optimize performance, reliability, energy efficiency and profitability of assets in design and in operation.

“This agreement demonstrates our approach to collaborating with world-class partners and builds on an already successful relationship with ABB,” said Marius Knoesen, Director of CerilonSoft. “The MoU sets out how we can work together to develop and deliver real value through smarter engineering, leveraging digital solutions and automation systems for customers, initially in Canada but expanding worldwide as opportunities arise. This will include highly reliable, off-grid gas-powered facilities designed for improved performance to support large scale data centers, as well as power and process optimization solutions in the chemicals and refining industries.”

“Enabling future-ready facilities is central to this collaboration,” said Ben Venter, Local Division Manager of ABB’s Energy Industries division in Canada. “By working with our customers to co-design and co-deliver integrated process automation solutions, we will bridge the gap between the traditional IT and OT and empower them to achieve enhanced performance through data-driven operations.”

ABB will also supply Cerilon GTL Inc, an affiliate company of CerilonSoft, with front-end design services for its first gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant, delivering integrated automation and digital solutions1. Building on insights gained from this project, ABB and CerilonSoft will combine their expertise to develop advanced process and power optimization solutions that address key challenges facing the evolving energy landscape.
