White Paper: What Is pH, And How Is It Measured pH is defined as the negative logarithm of the hydrogen ion concentration. This definition of pH was introduced in 1909 by the Danish biochemist, Soren Peter Lauritz Sorensen. By Frederick J. Kohlmann 05/21/2009 190.7 KB
White Paper: Turbidity And Suspended Solids: Determining The Relationship Between Turbidity And Total Suspended Solids The relationship between total suspended solids (TSS) and turbidity is typically used to monitor sample quality in process environments. Turbidity indicates sample stream contamination that occurs when filters become over saturated or a system becomes unbalanced. This procedure is suited for use on the 2100N,2100AN, 2100P and SS6 Turbidimeter. Datasheet: Thermo Scientific Model TS Flow 100 No-Contact, In-Situ Probe Type Ultrasonic Flow Meter The robust, field-proven TS Flow 100 probetype flow meter utilizes ultrasonic technology to measure gas velocities with a single stack penetration. The probe-type flow meter consists of the probe with a single transducer, an evaluation unit (control panel) and connecting cable. A cross stack version is also available for measurement across the entire stack. 05/20/2009 214.4 KB
Datasheet: Thermo Scientific Model TS Flow 100 No-Contact, Cross-Stack In-Situ Flow Meter An ultrasonic transducer is mounted on one side of the gas duct at a certain angle to the direction of flow. The transducer alternately transmits and receives sound pulses with and against the flow direction. The Thermo Scientific TS Flow 100 measures the propagation time delay of the pulses and uses this to calculate the velocity of the gas and determine the volume flow during operation. 05/20/2009 274.7 KB
White Paper: The Carbon Footprint Of Water The decisions being made today regarding the management of water and energy resources will profoundly affect our economic and environmental future. Climate change and other stresses are limiting the availability of clean water and cheap energy. A large amount of energy is expended to supply, treat and use water, meaning that water-oriented strategies can result in significant reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. This report explores the energy and carbon emissions embedded in the nation’s water supplies. By Bevan Griffiths-Sattenspiel and Wendy Wilson 05/19/2009 1.30 MB
Case Study: Emerson’s SmartProcess® SCR Optimization Helps Constellation Energy’s Brandon Shores Save $200,000 In NOx Credits At 1300 megawatts, Brandon Shores is the third-largest power plant in terms of owned capacity within Constellation Energy’s generation profile. The Brandon Shores station operates with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to reduce NOx emissions during the annual ozone season from May through September. In order for the SCR to work at its target efficiency rate of 90% NOx reduction, the flue gas entering the SCR must be greater than 585° F. Constellation needed an optimization solution that controlled the SCR inlet temperature more tightly in order to meet the SCR efficiency target of 90% NOx reduction.
