Vestas Receives First Order For V136-3.45 MW In The United States

Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order in the U.S. for 136 MW of turbines including both the 2 MW and 4 MW platforms. The order marks the introduction of the V136-3.45 MW wind turbine in the United States, which is especially well suited for the many mid- and low-wind sites across the country.

Emphasizing the broad range of Vestas’ product portfolio, the project includes V136-3.45 MW turbines in Power Optimized Mode to 3.6 MW, as well as V110-2.0 MW turbines. The project, which includes previously purchased PTC components, has a total size of 150 MW and consists of 47 turbines.

Between the 2MW and 4MW platform, Vestas now has the unique market versatility to support wind projects the U.S. in a broad variety of wind regimes.

These turbines will deliver low-cost, reliable wind energy to the region, all while generating millions in economic benefit for the community, and supporting growth in a thriving American manufacturing supply chain”.

Delivery is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2018, with commissioning planned for the fourth quarter.

The order includes supply and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service agreement, Vestas’ full-scope service package maximizing uptime and energy production.

Since its debut in 2010, more than 14 GW of the 4 MW platform have been installed in 34 countries around the world, including 2 GW in the United States.
