Turbochargers and Core Assemblies

AMERICAN HOFMANN CORPORATION has been the leading supplier of balancing systems to the turbocharger industry for the past decade. A complete line of balancing machines is available for balancing compressor wheels, wheel and shaft assemblies, and both low and high speed systems for core assemblies.

At the heart of the balancing machine is the measuring system. AHC incorporates piezo electric force measuring transducers into a compact, high output, two plane measuring table. This measuring table can be mounted either in a horizontal or vertical configuration and is available in four standard sizes and special sizes as needed. This design achieves measurements accurate to five microinches (0.13 um).

Tooling includes non-rotating arbors for compressor wheels, bushings for wheel and shaft assemblies, and V-blocks for rotor assemblies or for balancing a complete core in it's own bearings. The rotor is typically driven by a closed loop servo controlled air drive system. Available automatic correction options for high speed applications include CNC controlled milling and high speed CBN grinding.
