Protective Coating Improves Severe Degradation To Exposed Concrete At Plant

Elevated SO2, at levels, as high as 1200 ppm, was causing severe degradation to exposed concrete in the closed headspaces throughout this 150 MGD plant. The applications involved an initial resurfacing followed by application of a seamless protective overlay capable of handling impact and erosive flows and high SO2 levels. In addition the coating had to provide improved adhesion and ease of repair in the event of required maintenance.
