The 9850 Sulfur Dioxide Analyzer uses UV fluorescence technology to measure concentrations of SO2
Monitor Labs, Inc.50 Sulfur Dioxide Analyzer uses UV fluorescence technology to measure concentrations of SO2. This system depends on the fluorescent radiation produced by SO2 molecules when excited by UV radiation, which is then measured by a reference detector and the fluorescent radiation is measured by a photomultiplier tube (PMT). Final concentration of the SO2, corrected for temperature and pressure changes, is displayed in units ppm or mg/m3.

A built-in data display presents trends, averages, status and historical information in a digital or graphic format. The analyzer automatically selects the optimum measuring range for the display, printer and RS232 outputs for each parameter. This unit uses a zinc lamp as its UV source. The single spectral line produced at 214nm allows the analyzer to be free from water vapor interference, even in very high humidity conditions. It can run on battery or solar power, and accommodates traditional analog interface requirements, without additional output boards or voltage to current converters.
