Stellar Energy To Provide Turbine Inlet Air Chilling System For Ecopetrol Termosuria Power Plant In Colombia

Jacksonville, FL /PRNewswire-iReach/ - Stellar Energy, a global provider of energy plant solutions, will supply a turbine inlet air chilling (TIAC) system for the Ecopetrol Termosuria Power Plant to be located in Villavicencio, Colombia. The project includes turnkey design, manufacturing and commissioning for a 1,950 TR turbine inlet air chilling module on the plant's GE LM6000 turbine which will allow for an approximately 20-percent increase in power output for the plant.

Adding turbine inlet cooling to the General Electric LM6000 combustion turbine will boost power production, improve the turbine's heat rate, increase efficiency and lower emissions. The turbine inlet air chilling system mechanically chills the inlet air before it enters the compressor. The technology is especially effective in warm climates where rising temperatures can lead to a decrease in turbine power output just as power demands increase.

Stellar Energy will fabricate the entire TIAC solution in its Jacksonville, Florida fabrication facility. Stellar Energy has designed, manufactured and installed TIAC systems on more than 100 gas turbines worldwide, delivering more than 2,000 MW of capacity enhancement.
