International Solar Energy Society - Featured Speakers At The 2005 Solar World Congress

After an absence of 14 years, the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) will hold its biennial SOLAR WORLD CONGRESS in the United States. Since 1991 this international gathering of the world's top solar professionals has taken place in many different countries, but not in the United States. The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) will host the Congress in Orlando, Florida, USA on August 8-12, 2005 The Congress will feature two themes: Solar Energy: Bringing Water to the World and the History of Solar Energy. In addition, top world authorities will relate the latest advances in all areas pf renewable energy from solar thermal, to photovoltaic, to wind power, to hydrogen and fuel cells, and even ocean energy and wave energy conversion.

The 2005 Solar World Congress will feature some of the most prominent international dignitaries and environmental protection advocates in the world. These include Klaus Toepfer, United Nations Undersecretary General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme; Rajendra K. Pachuri, Chairman of the International Panel on Climate Change and Director-General of the Energy and Resources Institute: Takashi Tomita, CEO, Solar Systems group, Sharp Corporation; Isao Yukawa, Managing Executive Officer of the Kyocera Corporation: and Herman Scheer, Member of the German Parliament and General Chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy.

These speakers will highlight the world's foremost meeting of scientists, engineers, architects and decision makers involved in the advancement of solar and renewable energy technologies throughout the world. Some 528 papers will be presented on subjects ranging from climate change causes and effect to solutions for the world's forthcoming energy crises. In addition, the Congress will include 8 plenary sessions, 28 open forums, some 130 exhibits, a series of workshops, and an array of poster sessions.

Joining the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) as partners in the Congress are a long list of other participating organizations: the American Water Works Association, the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the European Desalination Society, Florida Solar Energy Center, International Committee for the History of Technology, Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Society for the History of Technology, Society of Building Science Educators, Solar Electric Power Association, Solar Energy Industries Association, Solar Rating and Certification Corporation, Sustainable Building Industries Council and the World Wind Energy Association.
