Scraper Strainers

Acme Engineering Products, Inc. introduced their line of automatic scraper-strainers. The strainers were designed to provide the automatic removal of solids and large particles using dirty water for blow down. The strainers are available in sizes up to a 36" body in steel or corrosion resistant metals.

These units were designed to remove large, irregularly shaped solids and contaminants from river or lake water intakes and to purify process effluent flows. Screens are available down to 100 microns to cover a broad range of straining requirements. Jacketed bodies are available for viscous liquid applications. The strainers are custom- fabricated to engineer's or plant specifications and can be designed to fit into existing conventional strainer locations, avoiding costly piping rework.

Recent installations include the filtration of river intake water for cooling applications in a steel mill; a 300 psi installation on a black liquor line to burner nozzles in a pulp & paper facility; intermediate filtration of pond sludge in a multi-stage remediation process, and; a low-pressure installation (4 psi inlet pressure only) in a wastewater treatment plant.
